Mr. Hicks, for more than forty years, has represented financial institutions (federal and state) in East Texas, including bank holding companies, regional banks, community banks, savings and loan associations, federal savings banks, and state savings banks.
This representation includes regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, branch applications and closings, together with numerous financial transactions. Too, Mr. Hicks, in the mid- to-late ‘80's, was involved, almost on a daily basis, in loan workouts and asset recoveries not only in East Texas but throughout the State as real estate values, real estate financing, and lenders were devastated. In an unusual reorganization arising out of this crisis, Mr. Hicks, with regulatory approval, successfully took a bank holding company through bankruptcy without, in any way, disrupting the subsidiary banks.
In addition to financial institutions, Mr. Hicks’s experience involves a broad spectrum of business and real estate transactions - real estate development including shopping centers, malls, office buildings, and hospital campuses, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, wholesalers, bottling companies, convenience store operations, and a myriad of other business clients.
Mr. Hicks is also involved in the healthcare industry presently serving as counsel to the board of directors of the largest health provider in Angelina County.
